    question re traction pad placement

Just received new custom 4'6" TWP F-18 wakesurf board (action pics this weekend!). It came with an unattached Hydro-Turf traction pad.

Does anyone have any guidance or rules of thumb for approximately how far from the tail end of the board the rear traction pad should be mounted?

If it matters, the primary rider is a 125 pound female.

    Thanks!

I can measure the pad on my F-18 and attach a picture if you like. I installed the pad to what felt right while standing on it finless in the living room.

      Thanks! Photo would be awesome.

I presume the farther back the foot, the more leverage for swinging the tail around. What is the downside of too far back (if such thing exists)?

Read Wake9 post re RJ's rear traction pad placement being driven by how far his front foot could go.

RB suggested (for the FlyBoy) the front foot needs to stay behind the apex of the rocker. If this is a rough rule of thumb for other boards, it might also force the rear traction pad placement backwards as it did for RJ.

Of course, I assume I am overthinking all this and it may not matter where the pad goes on our board (+/- a few inches) given our less sophisticated riding

I can only speak for me but if I ride with my foot too far back I have a harder time staying in the wave.

I will send you a pic and measurement in a few hours.

Weird coincidence that flyboy just posts some traction pad placement guidance today...
