I was surprised that the thread lasted that long. If that we TO, it would have been removed within 1-2 hours.

The thread is still there, with some edits removing the most objectionable content and references, but the obvious intent of that "mob" mentatlity to defame and I would say destroy Robert and Wake9.com is still there.
I can't fathom how it could be still present, or that somehow offering "an option" to remove it is somehow demonstrating a resonable approach. When there is defamation and you leave it published, you are practicing defamation. Site owners DO remove that sort of thing, because they do NOT want to sued!
Once you know that there is objectionable content and you edit "some" of it, then you automatically condone the rest, plus you also condone the group using the site as a base for libelous statements. You are at that point saying - yes we agree that it's fine to attack an individual and his business with the intent of causing harm, but just don't say "this". Can you imagine how a jury will react to that? An attorney "placing" each of the memebres of the jury into Robert's position, being the object of hatred and published defamatory remarks.
It's a train wreck that I can imagine is going to get worse.
You can't publish defamatory remarks about someone, nor a business. There are laws against that. It's sad that the group seems to live in that vacuum, thinking they can say and do anything, because there isn't a reality check - well there was one with Duffy saying - hey guys, aren't we bigger than this, but the rest were just feeding off of the hate of someone having a different opinion.
Leaving it up at all, is such an invitation to disaster. I'm "sorta" looking forward to what will come next, I can imagine it will be quite the lesson.Buy my kid's board! http://www.flyboywakesurf.com

The links to the thread are on the previous page of this thread. Robert has posted on it, I think this morning and said - it's fine to remove all the edits, just leave my family out of it.
I don't know, I hate to see folks learn than they can pick anyone of us and spew such vile trash without consequence.

Its all good. I used to work for budget rent-a-car as a young man, and I worked my way up, and they kept giving more more responsibilities. At one point, they offered me more money and gave me control over the after hours emergency number. I would get paged, and have to deal with the emergencies off hours, and this was on top of managing an office during the day. I have had people screaming at me and calling me things that would probably make Dennis Horton blush. ;-)
I mean, when you have 16 people in a 12 passenger van, and only 1 speaks broken english, and they are broken down in the VALLEY OF FIRE like 90 miles north of vegas, what's a guy to do? They didn't even tell me how to handle that stuff. I just had to wing it. Thats a true story by the way, I will have to tell the whole thing some day, pretty darn funny.
I learned back then, that when people scream at you, the best thing you can do is relax, and calmly respond. If they get personal, or scream louder, be even calmer, maybe even lower your voice a bit. Screaming back just makes them get louder, and it gets nuts. Not that I always follow my own advice, I still stray a bit, but trying to defend myself wasn't going to get me anywhere, and wouldn't be fun. Wake9 is all fun for me, and if it ain't fun, I don't want to do it.
A couple of guys I felt deserved the "tool" moniker, especially when it started to get racial, that was just weird.
Through the whole thing, I was able to make headway with a few vocal centurion owners. We were able to agree on more than we don't, and that is always a good thing.http://wake9.com/
