Might want to use a PFD. I do not think I would want to be banging through rocks and rapids after a fall without one.

I haven't surfed that rapid (Lunch Counter) but I have kayaked through it and it is one mean rapid.

Wow, thats really awesome! Thats not very far from my home, That might be worth a 3 hour drive next spring to give it a try.

There's a few spots on the Truckee that I have been eyeing but there is always kayakers on them just surfing their little hearts out. I need to put a leash on my old Landlock and get out there.

And yes, I would wear a PFD. Probably a brain bucket as well.
