If I was in the market I probably would. Right now I'm just sticking with the Walzer. I was just more curious as to what new boards are out there as it seems Skim has been put on the back burner for the last couple years.

@ Nick, yeah I saw the posed shot, but I'd like to see dom riding it. I couldn't see that channel at any point during the riding. In the stills, the channel is pretty pronounced, I'd "think" you'd be able to see it in the action sequence.

OK Captain Conspiracy, :30, 1:31 and 2:01 you can see the nose channel while riding. You can faintly see the rear channel on the 2:01 sequence but, the board is spinning so fast it's blurry when you try to stop it. That plus the shot of the drop in is clearly the same board as the one he is holding while on the platform. Same lighting, same conditions, same board.

Why the conspiracy theory Surfdad? Not that it's any of mine or anyone else's business, it just doesn't seem like your style.

Oh Nick we've been down that road before, so not going there with you again. I just couldn't see it. I still can't but I'll take you're word for it. There was another vid, different rider and I swear in the posed shot the nose channel is very evident, but later in the vid I can't see the channel when the kid is jumping from the jetski into the wake.

I was just curios Dude. No ill intent whatsoever. I'm certainly not trying to stir up a hornets nest. I just thought it was a cool looking design, especially the nose channel. Seems like it would help with the revert riding. My board is nearly impossible to control while riding backwards.

Moving on, are there any other new skims on the horizon? I was looking at the IS squirt last night. Looks very similar to the 4skim. I was also looking at the new (to me) 4skim. The one I've ridden is the single fin Black Pearl. It's not quite as fast or quick as my Walzer but it is very stable. Anyone ridden the twin? Is it faster or are those fins just for stability.? Hard to tell from the photos. Those fins almost look like big 'ol wakeboard fins.

Must be a board builder thing...never expected it from Surfdad.

It's a bifocals thing! I saw the channel on the secnd vid after the jump, but man it's hard for me to see it. I'll have to try it on the laptop at home and see if it's any clearer

James had a channel for a little bit and mentioned that it helped with sketchy landings. The other thing it does is stiffen up the area where the channel runs - all the 90 degree angles reduce the ability of that area to flex.

Nick, the IS Squirt is compression molded similar to the Hyperlite Broadcast and CWB Ride. Its not comparable to other skims.
I've ridden the Black Pearl Yellow and Moss by Inland Surfer. The Black Pearl Yellow is big at 4'7.5" but its fast and still easy to spin and shuv. I taught a ton of people on that board with the tri fin set up, but I only rode it as a single fin. The Moss (4'2") is a lot of fun. Its very agile, but not as fast and responsive I like. Both boards rode backwards fairly well. The Moss felt more comfortable backwards than the BPY.
I dont think channels would be a good thing on a skim. I dont want anything else hanging up while I'm spining. A little fin is bad enough, haha.

That makes sense. Thanks for the insight.

I would assume the Squirt is pretty heavy then?

Nick, the squirt is surprisingly lighter than the other compression molded boards. Its about as heavy as the inland surfer skims. Inland Surfer did a great job with this entry level board. But it still has the denisty of a compression molded board which effects how it rides and performs and it has razor sharp rails like other comparable boards to help it ride a bit higher.

Sounds like it would be a good boat board. What kind of $$$ are they going for?
