First, i would recomend pulling to neutral and letting the wake pass by/dissipate, then turn at idle back to your rider. You can also reverse back to the right, then forward to the left and you end up back in your original line looking right back at your rider. Dont take offese, but it sounds like you are doing a surf speed power-turn.
you will be ok, CHP had some good instructions. I pack quite a bit more weight in a 21' boat and I have had no problems...granted you have to pay attention. No rough water thats for sure...definetly let your wake pass you then go get your rider...a must do for any enthusiast

No offense taken, and thanks for the response. Definitely not a power turn. I do go to neutral, wait a few seconds, start the turn and go back at basically idle/no-wake speed. With the boat weighted to one side, when you go to neutral, the boat will want to start to turn away from the weight. If I start back just a little early, sometimes I catch the wake on the side of the boat, which causes the pitching. Usually, that's a better alternative than going straight at it, which can dip the bow unless you gas it through the wake.

x2 on what chp said about pullin to neutral or idle. As soon as the rider falls I pull to idle or neutral and turn the wheel all the way. No dippin the bow
I have the integrated bow sac. I have found on my boat that it really doesn't matter that much as to whether the weight up front is on the surf side or not. I played around with just using large people up front as ballast sitting on both sides or opposite sides or spread out. It lengthened the wake in all the scenarios. If I have a lot of people, I don't use my bow sac, just have some sit up front. I have about 1000 lb custom sac that goes under the seat and fills up the rear locker and use the bow sac when nobody is sitting up in the front. Taps works best for me at 3.5. Speed depending on board and depth of lake between 9.8 and 13 mph -- ride mostly between 10-11.
