Had 2 Goofy footers on the boat today

Went out today and took 2 friends with us that had not been able to go until today. Ends up both of them were goofy foot for surfing. Till today I had never even setup the goofy side for surf. So I got a few sets in, showing them pointers and showing off

Empty Port and fill Starboard, break for a swim. Nervous about how the wake would turn out, and to my amazement it was as good, if not better than port side, and this was with just the factory ballast, unlike the Enzo sac I have on the port side.

Here is what we ran for goofy foot on a '10 22Ve
    Rear - 600lbs (100%)
    Front - 100lbs (25%)
Speed - 10.0 to 10.4 (went a little faster for guy who weighed 250lbs)
    Taps - 4
    Depth - 12 to 15'
    People Ballast - approx 500lbs
Board - IS Blue Lake Quad - 2 Speed Line Fins
EDIT: - Gas Ballast - 85% of 47g tank - I add this because ragboy pointed out in a post that they fill up every time they go to the lake because gas is ballast!

No still pic, but I have some videos I will try and get posted up tomorrow.

Bottom line, our Tige never ceases to put a smile on our faces

Surprised you got a great wake with that depth. Usually under 15 really starts to affect.

I was def amazed with the RZ2 the wake we got with just the PRO ballast.

Unfortunately this is about as deep as it gets around us. There is one spot that hits 18' but I can't say I have seen much difference in the wake over that area.

That's interesting. I know we have experimented several times, not at Lake Oroville, its always VERY deep, but on the delta and at Camp Far West. 20' and deeper seems to always be the same. Under 15' you start to notice the effect, at 10' the wake is half the size.

One time we were surfing on the delta, the wave just drops to nothing, and I look down, depth is at 8'.

One day get your boat out to a good 30' deep, see if you notice. Would be interesting.

Either way, it sure is nice with the 22' boats, they make a wake easier then the 24s. Gotta love that.

Hey RagBoy remember when we staged those few wakesurf events for the INT League up at Villa Lagos? I don't think that was 8 foot much of the time. We were able to get a wake, but any changes in the bottom structure REALLY messed with the wake - at the east end of that lake it tapered UP and the wake would lose half it's length and gain twice it's height for about 10 seconds and then crap out. I think as long as the bottom surface is fairly consistent 8 to 10 is doable, if not stellar. However, when the bottom changes, the wake almost always craps out.

Yeah, I do remember that, I remember it was tough making a good wake. But I always thought that the low depth was the issue, not so much the change. But I have never played around with that to really know, I am sure you are correct. Sound like a fun experiment, but Oroville is just deep, no place to try there.

Well, there was this one time Dennis was surfing tandem with Jesse, and having a good time. All of a sudden Dennis the boat skims something and the water is churned up brown, the wake dies to nothing and Dennis is standing there holding Jesse, in 2 feet of water. That was interesting... ;-)
