    Z1 Surf Wake

first of all, I have made a few posts previously for advice and all advice helped - thank you

On to more things - exact weight - it seems as if the goofy foot (starboard) side wake is smaller then the regular foot (port). Any reason why? Something off with weight, engine torque? I would've expected the port to be slightly smaller because the driver is still on the starbaord side.

I do empty and fill all ballast so each respective side is full or empty and then same people sit on that side of the boat - excetp for driver of course.

I notice this-after looking at pics from last weekend. I am the only goofy rider on the boat most times. I will try to post pics later.

    It's because of prop rotation.....

We ride a 2008 Z1 with no ballast and just the taps on 8 and the wake is pretty damn good, we can surf with out the rope and pump up the wake about 2 maybe 3 times before running up the back of the boat, we cant get the rope less 360 momentum to continue after spinning around, the waves goes past us every time after completing the rotation. We turn the boat slightly to the right and try to drive in a track formation, two turns and two straight lines. We are both goofy riders. Overall I really like the wake, I have surfed some 2005 moombas, mastercraft x45, and this Tige Z1 and hands down the Z1 was the best wake even with no weight in the boat. We have been experimenting with the speed and it seems anything from 12.2-13.2 is where we are at depending on the amount of people or the board we are riding. There has been a few times we have crammed 9-10 people on the boat and the wake seemed huge! Havent had a chance to really surf it with that much weight in it. I do have a video of me surfing on youtube, just type in jimmycrackcorn wakesurfing and it will come up, we are surfing behind a mastercraft x45 and a tige z1 in the video the tige had no weight with just a driver and the x45 had factory ballast and 2 passangers, also I am riding a shred stix and a CWB tsunami. I hate the shred stix, so far the tsunami is a 9of10 for me, I really like that board... However I just bought a Hyperlite Byerly Hazard and I am currently riding it with a small rear single fin and switching it up to 2 small outter fins and they feel very similar... The board is loose, and spins quick but with decent grip when you need it. So far it seems to be a good arial board as well as it pops off the wake nicely when you pump up and go for it. However I will say it requires more work to surf and stay surfing than the CWB Tsunami is. THe tsunami just surfs for days and the Hazard is weird in that we can actually surf farther back with it than the CWB however the sweet spot seems smaller so we fall off the wake in the blink of an eye or the first hint of choppy water/wave break... Give me a few more days on the Hazard for a final review. So far I am very intrigued by it and anxious to ride it more and figure it out.

I am curious to know about the weighting and speed and turn options for the Z1:
-How fast are you guys going when its just you and a couple buddies?
-Are you turning as you go or straight line driving?
-How much weight is needed in the front of the Z1, I know some need it more than others, some boats need the front of the boat way up in the air and some need it flat, just curious what you guys think about the front and rear and side weight layout. Does the boat make a better wake with more weight on the riders side or does it make a better wake with weight evenly distribute to both sides? Is it better to even the weight and drive in a circle or weight on one side and drive in a st8 line? Has anyone tested those out, or is it clear and simple that the boat should always be driving in a slight turn?
-Is this true the the prop spins in a direction that disturbs the wake for goofy riders? I dont ride on that side often and I hardly even look at it lol so I am not too sure if that is true or not.

We dialed in fellow Tige owner KVON's Z1 a few weeks ago and got a great wake, we both could surf without the rope with some practice. We had 400 lbs in the port (left) locker, 200 under the port seat side compartment, 250 on the floor of the bow and a bow sack that probably holds another 250 but it is tough to say as it cannot fill up fully. We did not have to drive with any slight turns and the wake was great. And we found at about 11.2 mph with the taps at 4 was perfect. We did not try the starboard (driver) side. Here are a couple pics.

I know KVON, rode with hil last fall.

We fill front and back factory ballast on side of rider, taps at 6-8 and speed and 9-10.5, 9-kids 10.5 adults and drive in a straight line.

Austin guys, we are thinking of going Travis next weekend, 7/23-25 in the Pace Bend Area. Any of you ride that far up river? Anything to watch out for?

Dave - Yep, it's a CWB Ride. Nothing really to look out for up by Pace Bend with the lake being full but I have not spent a ton of time around there either. I love it over there, trying to schedule a day up there sometime in August.

If you are looking for good wakeboarding water head up the lake and either the left split (Perdenales River arm) or right split (Colorado River arm) offer good water for wakeboardingskating.

What Shred Stixx Where you on? I have Demoed every board I could get my hands on and the Comp 1 or the Thresher are by far the best boards out there. From the looks of that Video you either need more weight or to slow down to really be able to surf, check this video out
