Update - well after reading all these posts and watching a bunch of wake 9 vids on you tube, we had a succesful surfing day yesterday-Monday. I was hoping for 4 days of this but the rain and flooding in Houston held us back to just one day this past holiday weekend. Wife and I took off friday anticipiating 4 days of riding before bad weather came.

I filled front and back ballast on side of surfer as well as have everyone sit on that side. We went about 10-10.5. My wife was determined, got up and did real good for her first time surfing. My niece and her friend got up as well. I let go of the rope and stayed fairly far away fromt eh swim deck, at least 4-5 feet or so, no where close as I was before. I am guessing I was going way to slow before. My sister has the pics on her camera, as soon as she emails them to me, I will post.

As a matter of fact I have put some real thought into wearing a helmet surfing. Especially since last weekend my sister was surfing and fell and the board came back to her and hit her smack in the forehead. She ended up with 14 stitches smack in the middle of her forehead. When I was first introduced to helmets I laughed and said I would never wear one while I wakeboarded. But once I tried one I never ride without a helmet. It is amazing how much they reduce the impact of crashes. However, I just try to cover my face whenever I feel that a fall is coming on when I surf.
