OK - I have no idea about this board, but just thought I would post up the deal. $228 seems a decent price. Usually only last a little while on this site.
The board is no longer shown on their front page. Unsold items sometimes are then listed in their "store" section. I don't see it posted in there right now, but maybe they will update it later.
I think that Darin is a really smart businessman. He has everything from tubes to boards. From a retailer's persepctive - a one stop shop.
Darin had Ricky Carroll do the original shaping of the Grindwater line up. Ricky is one of the most talented new age shapers around, he certainly knows his stuff. The current grindwaters look to be manufactured in Asia some where. The last one I saw was a few months ago, but it was PuPe construction - Polyurethane Core with Polyester Resin. Most performance boards these days are epoxy and eps. PuPe looses it's feel after the one summer, plus it'll heel dent fairly easily. For a boat board, where you weren't overly concerned with liveliness, that construction is fine. However, Polyurethane will suck water, so if you get a ding, fix it before riding it again.
The shape is seriously front footed! It'll limit your progression some, but it rides ok. I'm not a big fan of that swallow tail and super stepped down narrow'ness, but for lighter folks - say under 180 and I mean 180 with jacket and wet, it does a pretty fair job.
The board I rode came with FCS fin plugs and so that opens up a huge array of fin choices, which I like. I happened to have a set of H2's and that made the board come alive.
You could do a lot worse, if you're in the 170 pound range, but you can also do a lot better.
If I were to summarise it, it's a fun, average'ish board for 150-170 pounders that have some skill set already. Favors front-foot riding, back footers will find it sluggish and unresponsive. FCS fin plugs allow some customization, cheaper asian construction of PuPe helps keep the price down.
If your above 180 - eeehhhhh. Not my recommendation, but I'm sure some talented big-guys can ride it. Same would hold true if your wake is a little weak.
I got to demo this board last week. I liked it but have to agree with surfdad, If anyone is looking for a new board check out Shred Stixx. I have just became a rep for them and cant believe how great the design is. I am thinking about setting up a group buy for everyone on the tige owners web site. look for the post to come soon.
I'm going old school- I'm bring back the SKURFER!!!!!!
has anyone ever heard of a props pearson wake surf board
From this site, it looks like Props WakeSurfers is the brand, Dave Pearson is their shaper. Maybe the wise Surfdad or Ragboy (or anyone with info) could chime in.
