    Absolutely love wakesurfing!

As a teenager all we did was ski, kneeboard, and the occasional tube. Usually behind whoever's dad had their boat running at the time. We got the 22Ve for its versatility and got the surf level ballast and IS Squirt as a beginner, price point, and boat board.

First time out once it got choppy we filled the ballast and proceded to try and surf. I, of course, was the guinea pig of the group. GLADLY, I might add! Took me a few times to get the hang of getting up on a board without being cinch into something. Got up and over to the wave and it was a BLAST!!!!

Yesterday we went out and right about noon we filled the ballast. 75% of front, 100% left rear, 0% right rear, Taps at 4, speed 10.2. Very little people ballast as most people went out of town for the weekend. I got up, and actually had slack in the line for a good 20 - 25 secs. For some reason I couldn't force myself to throw in the rope, but I am definitely learning the weight distribution on the board and how to control it. Sorry no pics from yesterday, but if you like you can view a video of my second time up on the surfboard here.

I will say the wave sucks in this video, because I had forgotten to adjust the TAPS plate.

I love to slalom, but surfing is fast becoming my sport of choice!

It looked like you were going a bit too fast in the video???

No worries. You will get it dialed in.

Some say weight in the front doesnt help. Hopefully Ragboy will chime in. I've never tried it with weight up front so I cant say for sure.

Congrats, you have been bitten by the surf bug!!!

Yeah I think that particular run we had the speedset at 10.8, might have been 11, but I know it was well above 10.2 which is what we used yesterday and from videos I have seen, we had a pretty decent size wave and pocket with a slight curl at the back. Sucks we forgot our camera yesterday.

Weight in front definitely helps, it makes the wave longer but takes away from the height. You need a nice ballance between weight up front and in back. Its partially rider preference so just ply around with it!

Surfing is kickass! I love it too! Dont ever do anything but surf. Rarely even bring out a wakeboard or skate anymore. Just the surf boards.
I would invest in an indo board, as thats the closest you can get to surfing while on land! love that thing too.

kko - Yeah Ronda and Todd are our next door neighbors. Ol' Todd hurt something trying to get up on the wakeboard yesterday. Said he felt something roll around his ribs, and he didn't go back out after that. It was weird, we both pop right up on the surf board, but the wakeboard gave us both a fit.

Yea we are still playing around with ballast, speed, and TAPS. While in NC last week we had a lot of people ballast in the boat and had a huge wave. That in part has me considering a sac that goes from the rear locker up underneath the seating on the left side. I know we have so much learn, but tinkering around with it is just as fun.
I contacted IS about possibly changing to some faster fins on the IS Squirt. It came with two rather small fins, and I know absolutely nothing about them, so will see if that helps too.

Fins wont help you at the beginner stage.

Get your wave dialed in and consistent. Then progress from there. TAPS can help a lot with controlling the wake, which is why many suggest front ballast is a mute point. Get as much weight to the rear of the side your surfing on and let the TAPS do its magic.
