Has Anyone Got the Bodyboard Working Behind the Boat?

just wondering if anyone had tried wakesurfing on a bodyboard in prone position? if so any pics? was wondering if it was possible/if anyone does it?

I have seen it done. Be very careful. go to wake9.com/cokills and go to the bottom and read the Safe Distance Study. It makes it clear that CO levels at 2ft or below are much higher than when standing up. The CO seems to hover near the water. I also wouldn't want to hit the boat face first. Good time for a helmet if you do it.

cheers, i would really like to give it a go. were still struggling to get a good surf wake out of our z1, i know they can do it cos ive seen pics, we just cant figure it out, especially on the goofy side.

i have a 250L fat sack, so when i take the boat out in a few weeks, i will try with the factory tanks and the fatsack on the floow and see if that helps at all (fingers crossed).

i do a fair bit of normal surfing (as in at the beach)so im really keen for a wave in the river but we can only really get a rideable natural side wave from our boat. ive seen your pics and it seems you boat produces on both sides, but i assume ur using a lot more weight.

yes, I am not familiar with the Z1, but usually the trick on the goofy side is to get enough weight in that one corner to list the boat over enough to make the wave. Don't weight anything else but that one rear corner with at least 500-750 lbs in the vdrive locker, and then people weight on that one side, see if that works.

ok thanks, will give that a try. do you fill the bow sac at all when your surfing or just the rear tanks?

Normally, no. Use the taps to bring the bow down as needed, and keep your weight in that corner.

We found the Z1 likes a little bow weight when surfing, but even without, the wake is great.

Unless your boat has a CAT or Fresh Air Exhaust, the Carbon Monoxide concentration while laying on a board will likely cause loss of conciousness with moments!!!

The question of ballast in the bow is simple. When weighted for surfing, if your boat is too bow high to comfortably see, you need bow ballast. If you can build a surfable wave but want it longer, add bow ballast.

My guess is that you will need about 1200 to 1600 pounds of ballast on the Z1 to build a good surf wave. For more info go to: www.HowToWakeSurf.com

                  Doc,

Have you guys redone the Co readings anytime recently using a newer ECM controlled feedback EFI engine? I feel the Co concentrations will be quite a bit lower then those used in the original tests using an Carbu'sorous engine.

Not saying that the EFI's produce safe levels of Co, just curious what the reduction is. I've seen first hand what Carbs and EFI will do in cars using a 5 gas to read.

thanks, cant wait to try it out withe the fatsack and the feedback you guys gave. i should have at least 500kg/1100lbs on the surfing side, so fingers crossed we can get the goofy wake cracking!!

will post pics as soon as i head out.

We initially had 2 boats for testing, an older Nautique with the carbureted engine and a 2002 Tige with throttle body fuel injection. The meters I was using will only go to about 1000 ppm so measuring at the transom both engines quickly saturated the meter with CO.
