    Z1 set up

I would some feedback on how you set this boat up for surf and wakeboarding and how good the wake really is on this boat. I am boat shopping and this is a model that appeals to me.

I have never been on this model but have a 22Ve, they will be shaped similar except side body design and graphics mostly. The hull and wake shape should be VERY similar. My boat i only got the factory 900lb ballast, and for most riders it throws a great wake for wakeboarding just with the factory system. I, however, would like to go bigger with more ballast. I have never pulled a surfer behind mine so I cant speak for the surf wake or how to set it up. But there are plenty of knowledgable people on here that will hopefully chime in and help.

Statistically this boat should throw the best wake of any boat that Tige offers, it has the same amount of ballast from the factory, but it is not naturally as bouyant so when the same weight is added it should sit lower in the water and make a bigger wake. The difference wont really be noticeable, but nevertheless it is logical. (This explains why the Malibu Wakesetter VTX is Malibu's best wake boat- it is their 20 ft. boat just as the Z1 is Tige's) So if the size is right then you should definitely pursue this......... or wait until the 2010's are available and get the AWESOME 2000lb ballast!!

From what I have heard, the Z1 is different than the 22Ve/RZ2 hull and throws a different (better) wake. Contact 'NHarp1' or search through his posts. They have a Z1 and primarily surf. He added ballast over the winter and should be able to tell you the before and after.

We have a 22Ve with factory ballast and can get a decent surf wake by adding one fat sac (~600-700 lb.).

I know you stated that you are interested in the wakeboard set up, but the Z1 has by far the best surf wake out of the box, period.

For boarding, this boat really likes the bow weight, so go with at least a 60/40 fnt/rr ratio. If the boat has factory ballast, expect to add another 300-400 lbs in the walk-way. Other then that, this boat will trough a pretty decent wake.

What drugs are you taking? Can I have some??? hahaha

IMO, it throws a different wake. Not a better one.

Note the beginning of the sentence: "From what I have heard" I'll concede that your opinion wins so that we don't turn this into a WW thread.

How a wake performs is all opinion anyway, right? It obviously depends on the level of riders and their preferences along with the watersports performed. I have heard nothing but good things about the wake on the Z1.

P.S. - I can't get my prescription refilled under Obama's health plan. So, stop wasting my tax dollars on this forum and get back to work!

Wait for DieselPwr as well, he has a Z1 that is primarily used for surfing.
