The first time I tried wake boarding (grew up water skiing, barefooting, etc.) My face hit the water sooo hard I thought I had broken my neck. That was about 8 or 9 yars ago. I didn't even try it again until last summer. Just keep trying/learning and you will get hooked like the rest of us. Also, anything you can do to help your balance and standing sideways is great, like skateboarding or Ripsticking. Especially getting the feel of having your weaker foot forward.

      Waketrix vs The Book

If I were to buy just one, is that one better or worse then the book that da.bell mentions up above?
The Book can be purchased as a 5 DVD Instructional Series ($100) or each DVD can be purchased separately for $30. I bought only the first DVD in the series called "Getting Started". At 55 years young my goals for wakeboarding are probably less lofty than most, I don't see myself doing 360's or rolls, so I didn't order the complete series.

I've just ordered Waketrix so my only exposure is to the free clips on their site. I do feel I learned more from the free clips than from the "Getting Started" DVD. Someone who has watched the whole series would be better qualified to give a review than me.

      Good Luck.
