Hey Coach just so you can get a user's opinion on one of those boards. I have a LF Trip and that website is very accurate. It isn't the pop-iest board that I have ridden but it definitely isn't dead!

The reason I decided on that board is because I have a progressive cut toward the wake and the fins on the bottom edge allowed me to cut all the way through the lip b/c of my style. I will be upgrading my board soon since I have sort of outgrown that board. (I'm 6'0 170lbs and I have the Trip 133.5) When I upgrade I am going to look for a board with a little more pop but I was very happy with my Trip. Hope this helps a little. Ask if you have any questions about the Trip.

Thanks. Right now I am on a Park 143 and I don't know which way it is going to Pop. I love how it edges and like a hard edge coming in, but need a rocker that is not so unforgiving. I have been on the Hyperlite ERA and really liked it, much looser than the Parks but so is just about everything out there. But it did hook up very well. I did notice that the 2007 Trip has molded fins on the outside vs the removable. I am not sure what else they have changed but I think it would be a good board for me a well. I just need a few to demo.

Coach, it seems a lot of people that are heavier than me are going with shorter boards. I am 175 lbs. and 5'11" and am currently using a 143 board. Should I be going shorter?

I really think it is what you are comfortable riding. I am 220 lbs so when I am on boards under 140 it feels very squirly to me. I like bigger boards but I like the stablity I feel when I ride. I have been on some 142's that felt very squirly but it was because it was a narrow board. At your weight you can ride just about anything. My guess you would be best on 138 - 140, but like I said it comes down to you and how comfortable the board is. Plus it is fun doing some demo's on the different boards

if you feel good on that its fine. i'm 6'1" 170-175 i went from a 137 LF subjekt to a 142 GB caddy after snapping the subjekt. the caddy rides well but the extra swing weight drives me nuts. the way i see it is that anything i can pull off on that thing i can do on a downsized board just better. honestly that is really the only area i actually feel a difference with a bigger board. i'm about to switch the caddy to backup for an '07 watson which i really like because its a 138 and has upwards of a 17" midsection which really helps get the max. pop out of a shorter board. that means less swing weight and about the same surface area. personally i prefer boards from 136-140 for my size though.

I agree w/ everything you said! I'm almost exactly your size and prefer a board from 136-140 as well. I am upgrading my 133.5 Trip this summer and was also looking at the '07 Watson because of the size and midsection which allows for a lot of pop. Have you ridden that board yet?

actually i was just going off the specs. i rode an '03 subjekt for several years and its basically the same deal; larger midsection with a mild but abrupt 3stage rocker. i actually went to the subjekt from a 133.5 trip as well. the shane and watson are both designed off the fish platform. the fish is basically a reinvention of the wakeboard as was the trip in its day. so they are both made a little shorter and wider to give that feel we both seem to like in a board. the shane is looser and the watson is a little tighter. i'd expect them to pop about the same though being that they are both a 17.8 mid section and 2.4 rocker(so was the subjekt). i'd say you'd love either one guaranteed. i used to be all about the loose shane style but now i'm more into a little more control thats all. i might demo one this weekend i'll let you know how it is if i do.

I currently ride a 141 Hyperlite Premiere, and I am looking for something new. I am probably going to step to a 138 LF Watson board. I have heard great things about that board and is supposed to have some real nice pop. Probably demo it in a week or so... If I do I will write up a review.

So I've narrowed it down to either the LF Watson 138 or the LF Shane 136. I absolutely LOVE the look of the new LF Shane board w/ the LF Shane limited edition CT bindings!!

i've got some '07 closed toed watson's and i love them. the coolest thing is that with the moldable liquid liners they actually custom mold to your feet over the span of a few sessions. i haven't gotten out on mine enough yet but i hear it feels really good once they do. the shane's have the same thing. only difference between shane's and watson's is the side to side give.

I have heard that some people have had some issues with the draining of the CT boots. Have you had any drainage problems with them? And the "side to side give" you mention.. is one supposed to be stiffer?

they drain pretty well through the two holes in front. when you take them off they get water in them but you can just dump out whatevers left. the give i was talking about is the side to side stiffness. the watson's are stiffer and the shane's are more flexible. to be honest though i can poke and grab just as good with the watson's as i used to with ultrasucs. here's a pic for the hell of it.
