I believe they both use a ball and socket mount, so you can always upgrade the mirror head to a PTM later. The CIPA mirror is very clear and if you haven't used one of these convex mirrors, its amazing how much more you can see with a rider in tow.
EDIT- if you do buy a tower mount and go with Monster, Call them to confirm, I think thats the one I bought but there is one that will work if the tube has a bend to it and one that needs it straight. They recommended the one that can go on a tube with a slight bend after looking at pictures of my tower. They were very friendly and helpful on the phone, although I don't think it was July when their season is likely rocking and rolling

Reason: Add the part about calling monster to verify mount

Stingreye, Thanks for the feedback.... I have the arms that attach to my tower and I'm even ok with the mirror, but the part of the mirror that attaches to the arm seems stripped-out and want stay in place so it's a pain.
Cool! Upload a pic maybe someone will know a fix or a good replacement. The good news is that the tower arms are pricey so at least you have that covered!
