kind of new at wakeboarding, how long of a rope do most people use?

If you are a beginner a shorter rope is generally what you use so it is easier to clear the wake, as you get better go longer and then just experiment with what you like most people start at 65` and then stay around 70 or 75.

What Gardyloo03 said. It also depends on the speed, ballast or no ballast, and the skill level of the rider. Start off short, 55-60 ft and go from there. I generally ride 70 -75 depending on boat.
