We have two skis. We have an older Kidder. Nice ski - very predictable. Easy to get up, easy to handle.

We also have a newer HO (I think it's a vengeance, I can't remember). It's like an untamed horse. Beautiful, fast and hard to ride.

We switch back and forth depending on our mood.

HO Phantom that I start the season with because it's not as aggressive as my Connelly F1.

I have been riding an HO CDX 67" for 2 years now. I love it. Before that I had an HO Extreme 66" which was the best thing on the planet back in the early 90's. I could not believe the difference 10 years makes in ski design!!!! The CDX is so easy to turn and takes the wake crossing much better than the older models.

the last ski i bought was a 66" connelly rocket. i don't remember what year 95 or 96, but that thing was a handfull. "rocket" says it all. for some strange reason the ski shrank over the years and now it is too small for me and my belly sure would like to get out and slalom again some day.

What makes the F1 more aggressive is that I weight in at 165lbs and the Connelly F1 is 66" and the HO Phantom is 68". The shorter F1 can cut on a dime, but I have to be very attentive or it's wipe-out time.

                  I'M BACK

For the first time in a loooooooonnnnnggggg time I'm stoked on slalom. We spent a bunch of time this last weekend skiing the one public course in our area. What a blast. This was the first time I've ever run a course. I've been skiing since I could walk and over the years have drifted away from the discipline that I (well hell, all of us) grew up on. Now I'm back and am I sore. Holy god skiing is a lot of work. Apparently I'm old and out of shape. By the end of the weekend I was able to muscle out 6 @ 15 off but only 30mph. My 66 HO Extreme has, as Tige MD so eloquently put, shrunk. I'm 6' @ 195#. Is this thing to small for me anymore? Has the technology advanced a lot in since my ski was new? I'm sure it has but how,I don't know. It took me four tries to drag my fat @ss out of the water on one occasion. The slalom people in the area are some of the nicest, courtious, helpfull people on the lake. How refreshing! I think that was a really big part of my return to the fire stick.
You'll get your chance, smart guy.

                    Speed Freaks

Here is a cool video for your renewed energy for skiiing. The music would be great on your boat for the Dawn Patrol session. It is on Waterski Magazines video page. It is called Speed Freaks.

Sounds good, man so your first time out you were running 15 off at 30 thats great!!! With your weight and height you should be riding a 68. I am 6'1 and 215 and i ride a 70. This year me personal best has been 15 off at 34. Sounds like you have a cool bunch of skiers around, you should see if any one of them skis a 68 (preferably an HO) and give it a run. How do they handle the course ediquite?? Do you take turns or is it a three pass and drop set up??

A few weekends back, I did the the green buoys on the course at 20 on a wakeboard. That was a mess! Then I tried it for fun on reds at 28 w/ gates and that was even more of a mistake. I have thought about getting into skiing, probably will start back up next summer. Love to watch it though.

I'm also familiar with the "shrinking ski syndrome." Last year, after several years on my trusty old EP, I upgraded to an H.O. ASX with double Venom boots. It never did feel right for me so I gave it to my son and he loves it. As much as it hurt to admit, the extra pounds and years meant going to a larger weapon. I stayed with H.O. and got a Magnum, again with double Venoms and it is perfect....................for now

Dude, what kind of EP where you on. I've still got my father's Comp 1, my mother's Superformer, and my own Superformer. My father's is still in it's original orange vinyl case.
