    Which foot forward?

I am right handed and ski right foot foward, but I wakeboard left foot foward.
My mom, dad, sister, and wife all ski and board this same way.
My budy is right handed and skis left foot foward, and wakeboards left foward.
For a right handed person, which foot is the most common in front? Am I the oddball, or him?

I'm right handed, but ski and board right foot forward, which makes me goofy.

    It sounds like you're bi____________

Left foot forward is normal stance while right foot forward is goofy..

You don't want to think about it too much.

Yeah I know. I've been slalom skiing for 21 years (doesn't mean I'm awsome though). I'm just curios what is the norm... and I want to win the arguement with my budy. Do most right handed people ski with right foot foward?

you are the oddball buddy. Most right-handed people ski and board with their LEFT foot forward. That is what is considered "regular" and "goofy", what you are , is when you board/ski with your RIGHT foot forward.

But you know they say that "smart" people are goofy-footed..
If you ain't falling.. you ain't trying hard enough..

I'll give you my stances just to throw the curve off.

                  I'm right handed.

Ski- RF forward but with right palm up (backwards)

                  Board- LF forward (regular)

Skateboard- regular but push with LF (mongo)

Surf- regular but I prefer to ride backside,
You'll get your chance, smart guy.

I've heard several ways to decide which should be forward:
                    1) stand still and have someone push you from behind, which ever foot you step forward with to catch yourself from falling is the foot that should go forward.

                    2) hop on one foot, whichever foot you hop on without thinking about it first is the one that you should put forward.

3)when you start to walk, which foot do you take your first step with? That one goes forward.

When none of these work, do what feels natural. If you ski with one foot forward and board with the other, it probably won't make much difference, you could be one of those wierd ones and be able to go either way without feeling any difference (switch hitter).

Personal Preference and comfort. Also the way you learned makes a difference too.

Some people ski Left foot forward because its has its advantages in the course.

                        You still skateboard?

I learned a while back that it's true what they write in that Jimmy Cliff song, "The harder they com, the harder they fall":

                        Big guys + extreme sports + over 40 = ++++++pain

I can still out-ski my kids, but that may be only for a little while longer
