    Ski Recommendation

Ok, So Im looking to upgrade to a tournament level ski. Im going to try to buy it used and really only want to spend about $400.

Im skiing about consistently at about 28-30mph now but im quickly moving up. Last year I made one pass at 32.

So Im skiing about 30-34mph, i weigh about 150, I have figured i need about a 65-67 inch ski.

Anyone have a recommendation on a particular model? Or have a ski you are trying to sell.

What ski are you currently using?

On a side note, I have a brand new (with brand new Venom bindings) 2007 HO Triumph 69 for sale. The ski's been in the water a couple of times (there are no marks/scratches on the ski), the bindings have never been in the water. It is a great ski up to 32-34 MPH. But it is probably a little too long for you. If you are interested, I would sell it for $350.

I have a kidder classic 67, really good all around ski. More forgiving in the turns. I have rode a F1 & F3 Connelly 67. The F1 carves really good, not forgiving. When it is time to turn you turn. My knees are to old for that. Great ski for a young and aggressive skier.

        Currently have an O'brien Evidence

Im trying to find my old waterski magazines with the ski reviews in it.

Right now, from what I have searched I found a Ho Monza and a D3 Nomad in my price range.

I ride a Goode 65.5 - 9700 - 160 AMP & Wileys. I am 150 lbs, 5' 10". I ski 34 mph and have a tournament PB of 5@32 off. Any of the Carbon skis will work for you. There is really a big adjustment going to the latest technology. You may try the Radar Senate. If you have a chance to demo a a few skis, like at a ski school or a long weekend ski trip with a pro, do it.

I skied with Steve Schnitz last year. And basically what he told me was get a tournament level ski.....and ofcourse he recommended Goode, which are little more expensive then the rest.

Whats the difference between the F1 and F1x?

The F1x is a shaped ski. The tip and tail are a little wider. The shape makes it a little easier to turn. I have an F1 67" and love it. If you watch e-bay you can find it in your price range. If you can get up with both feet in go with the double boot. Also Connelly has an amazing warranty. I bought a new 2005 F1 off of e-bay a couple of years ago and it had a defect. I called Connelly and they exchanged it for a 2006 F1.

Costigan - What kind of defect?

Zad - If you are looking for that high-end of a ski, I would stick with the F1 or the Monza

Is the Radar Senate a Tournament level ski? Or is it more of a Performance?

Whichever ski I get I will probably use for quite a while.

There were some small air bubbles in it on the bottom. They are hand made, but they must have screwed it up a little. Nothing major nut they still took care of me.

Found a nice one, 67" F1, DO you think that is going to be good for me?

I think the 67" will be perfect. It will give you a little room to grow in to, but still not too big for you now. The F1 is an excellent ski. I'm not sure if it still is, but it was the world record holder last year.

                              Monza

I went from an old KD7000 to a 67 HO Monza at the beginning of last year and love it. I am 5'10" 161 pounds and just love it in the course. At 150 you might want to try the same 66 and 67 inch top end ski from anyone and see if the 67 is a bit too much before buying.
