    New Slalom Ski

    Hey everyone...

    I'm new to this site, so bare with me if anything I say is old news to you please. I started slalom skiiing when I was 8 and am 14 now. I have a 62" 1997 HO VTX and I'm pretty sure I've grown out of it. So I'm looking at new skies with my family and not sure which one would be best. I can do all six of the inside bouys on the course properly at around 30 MPH at 15' off. I like my curren't ski and I liked how I skied on it. I'm not a pro or anything so I ask you guys, what do you think the best ski would be for me?

    I've so far looked at the HO Truth, which seems a little above me, even though I think its the newer version of my ski, and the lime one called Vengence I think. That's pretty much all I've done. Thanks in advance!

    BTW, this site looks awesome! As you may have already guessed, I'm "from" PlanetNautique and this site nice....

    if you're running 6 buoys you're too good to be taking advice from me, but I've got an 01 HO Magnum that I really like. You'd probably get better feedback on an AWSA site. Good luck.

      Sorry if I was unclear. I'm not sure if it is like this on all slalom courses, but the one I go on has a pair of bouys to choses from, the one in the standar position which is orange, and another one which is about 5 ft. closer on the inside which is green. I can only get six on the green bouys. Sorry if I made myself sound better than I am.

        I think you should demo both of the skis, I would go for the Truth, but see how they feel. Remember that your first run on the ski will be strange and different so don't make a decision on your first run out.

          i agree with hoots, not being mean, but most of us are wakeboarders. so, we don't have a lot to offer on the subject. you may be able to get the help at a waterski site.

            By the time I was 14, I was skiing a 66" ski. I would take a serious look at the HO Vengeance. I ski the 2002 version which was the ASX Carbon. Excellent ski! I don't run the course that often anymore, but it is a ski that you can run form 30- 36mph, and into at least 28' off through the buoys. It is a little more forgiving than the truth due to 1/2 inch more width. Not sure they have a 66" available in the Vengeance, but they might.

              I have an HO burner. I like it since it's an alum. Top so it doesn't handle different when it's hot or cold. Plus, it's not a true tourny ski, but then again in Oklahoma you don't get that many Glass days, so it ski's good in chop, but really good in glass. Just my .02

                As for size, go with a 66". I would say to demo several before making a purchase and go with the one that feels 'right' the first time up. That is how I was on my CDX - it only took one turn to know this was the best ski for me. The only other think I can add is not to buy the Phantom/Truth just because its the most advanced ski - it rides too aggressively for most people.
