Just wondering how many wood skis have survived all these years? Does anyone remember the " **** Pope" and " Alfredo Menendez" slalom skis made by Cypress Gardens? Here's a few skis i still have. The one that says Wiley on it is puported to be from the last batch of Obrien skis made out of wood. I bought it at a boat show from the Obrien booth in the late 70's. It was hidden among all the new fangled fiberglass skis. The cut and jump skis were scored by my son at a yard sale a few years ago but we dont know much about them. pics and comments about wood ski's welcome here.

We still have an old Alfredo in my bros boat. He uses it as disposable to drop a ski. We've been dropping and leaving it for dead for twenty years now and can't seem to lose. He doesn't have a Tige' and it is a long pull to get up behind his boat. Maybe next year at the boat show a new boat is in order for him.My dad always said "Stupid Hurts". He's yet to be proven wrong, but for some reason I keep trying.

True story, I found a couple of old wooden skis and mounted a walker to it so I could give it to my buddy for his 40th birthday. We have a picture of him on the skis with one of those hats that hold several cans of beer....quite a sight!Cursed by a fortune cookie: "Your principles mean more to you than any money or success."

Too funny Dogbert!!! any chance of getting that posted? Any comments about the differences between fiberglass and wood? The wood skis are lighter it seems. The ones that i have are concave and look quite modern but then im not a great slalom skiier. the fiberglass ones seem more stable but a little harder to turn but im sure that depends on the design of the ski?

I learned on old pope jr's // learned how to slalom on one when I was 11. DAD was in a good mood that morning and said you have today to get up or your waiting till next summer......cause I'm not turning this boat around all summer long. I did it. Dad had an old Connelly? woody from probably the sixties...had to wipe it down and put back in the bag and leave unzipped for the boot to dry...learned to do that for mine they are 20+ and still going, but then again they dont make it off the wall as much now...wakeboarding/skating and surfing have replaced that workout.
