actually, there is a difference between 1080i and 1080p. I=interlacing. This means that it draws every other line when the inverter is refreshed. p=progressive, which has a sharper picture with a higher effective refresh rate... although its a digital display.
              from wikipedia:
"The perceived vertical resolution of an interlaced image is usually equivalent to multiplying the active lines by about 0.6. This means that, when viewing progressive sourced material, a progressive display will show a more detailed image, when compared to an interlaced one, even if both have exactly the same display resolution, such as 640 x 480 pixels. "

I understand, but would you even be able to notice? On mine, not at all because it upconverts whatever into 1080p.

Yes you can notice. In 1080i if the picture is moving fast, like an action movie or sports, the image will blur. This is the result of two frames becoming one and they dont line up perfectly. If you have 1080p, go with it its the best, If you TVs highest resolution is 1080i and also supports 720p go with 720P its actually better.

There is a video about this on youtube I will dig it up.

absolutely. on my screen, 720p actually looks better than 1080i. Clearer, crisper, and richer colors. I suggest you try it- specifically with the xbox 360.

Its the I and the P that makes the difference not really the number like you might think.

zad... bravo. Thats by far the most straightforward description of interlaced vs progressive I've seen.

We just got HD tv put in at the beginning of the month, and when I got home from school I took everything the stupid cable installers put in and did it my way.
