    Gauge Problems

I have a 2004 Tige and I have been having problems with a couple of my gauges.
The water temp gauge needle has started to jump to different numbers and sometimes does not move at all but the boat is not running hot. I replaced the sending unit and that did not help. I have also put in a separate temp gauge that has a sensor that goes into a access hole near the top of the engine. this gauge shows that the water temp is fine so I have been able to watch the temp but I want my factory gauge to work like it should. (the other gauge is lying in the floor)
My second problem is the oil pressure gauge. it maxes out to the highest number but the boat is running fine.
    Please help.
the gauges are driving me crazy.

For starters, Check for loose connections at the gauges and see if that helps.

First disconnect the wire to the oil sender at the sender and turn the key on (engine off). If the gauge falls its a bad sender. If the gauge still reads max disconnect the sender wire from the back of the gauge. If it falls then that wire is grounded out, need to find were its grounded or just run another wire. If it does not fall then its the gauge. For the temp gauge remove the factory gauge and hook it up to your other sender and wiring. If it still acts up replace the gauge if not run a new wire. If you find both problems is cause by wiring then check the main harness connector, may have some corrosion or expanded pins. Gauges work by changing resistance in the sender, if there is added resistance in the wiring or connectors it will not read accurate.

      hope this helps!

Make sure the wires are'nt crossed. Might have the sender wires going to the wrong gauge...
