    TAPS?

I have a 2000 21i RE and I have been experiencing problems with my wakeplate. It seems that it has not been working properly. The guage works periodically(off and on) Maybe there's a short in the conection of the guage? The plate does not move, it seems to be stuck in the up position for skiing. It will however make noise when I push the button put no movement. Any Suggestions? Thanks, ADAM

I also have a 2000 21i and had the same problem. The hydraulic pump was out of fluid...I filled it with Dexron III and the exact problem you described went away.

    Hope that helps.

if the taps plate is not moving and is in the "up" position/ wakeboard and the pump runs then check the fluid level. if there is no fluid then add some tranni fluid. a empty tank will hold 22oz. have someone run the pump and you look for a leak.

if the gauge moves then the plate has to be moving. the gauge can not move without the plate moving. but, the plate can move without the gauge moving. alot of time the needle will get stuck or hung up. if that is the case, tap on the lens with your finger. very seldom we have a sending unit failure, most of the time it is a gauge.

I had the same thing happen on my 97 2150i. They changed out the gauge and it still had the same issue. The dealer had to change out one of the hydraulic arms under the boat. There was a short in the wiring in the arm that sends to the gauge. The Taps still worked but the gauge jumped around like you are talking about.

thanks. I need to get that checked out this spring for sure. Hope that they can find the problem.
