    Another Taps question

Well we were out this weekend had a great time. We started back into the ramp when I noticed the taps stopped working. So I played with it a bit and got to go back up and the could get it to work again
So I dig into it tonight notice the fluid was very low. So I thought that was it. Nope. So I get under the dash and I can hear it click when push the button. So I clip all the tie raps and find a nine wire relay of some sort of relay has with blade connectors so I undo all of them and reconnect. I try and it starts to work, so I thinking great no problem easy fix. I raise it up and down a couple time then and let go of the button wait a sec then try again nothing just the click sound out of the relay. So I give it 3-4 mins try again and it works. I try the same step and it stops working about the same time.
So here is my question is it like heat protected so you can't run in up and down a lot not that you do that on the lake since I'm testing I would like to with out it stop working. But I know I have never had an issue with it not working on the lake before.
    Any help would be great.
    Thanks
    Sam

No one has any thoughts on this problem??? Does any one know where you could buy a new taps relay other then Tige or a dealer?

Sounds like your relay is going bad. The TAPS relay or control module or whatever it's called is the one thing I've been unable to find much info about. I think it's custom Tige. I've been documenting all the parts on our boat and haven't had to dig into that module, yet. I'll bet it can be reproduced with other vendor parts, but I'd need a circuit diagram. Tige just pulls together various parts for their boats from - Mercruiser, Marine Power, Velvet Drive, Walter Gear, Morse, Teleflex, OJ, Acme, etc.

One other part that is of concern is the EMI 9 Relay Digital Electronic Control Center (10A), P/N 50-00073 for the dash. That relay assembly is no longer available.

Bennett Marine made the TAPS pump and trim plate, maybe they know something about the relay assembly or might have a substitute. The TAPS pump in our boats is a standard V351 unit with one side left out because there is only one trim tab. Boats with trim tabs usually have 2 tabs. Maybe a standard relay assembly from a 2 tab system would work, just use one side of it.

Bennet told me I needed to contact the Tige' dealer for my 99 21v riders with the Bennett pump. The dealer said the new relay works p/n E1016 for $128, I too am looking for another solution. I have not checked for frayed wires in the handle but when I operate the switch the relay clicks both up and down. I had to hot wire the pump to get the plate up so we could surf until I find a more reasonable solution.
