Bad end to what was a good day on the Lake, Need help

Ok we were out on the lake having a great day. We decided to head home so I make my way to the ramp when I see this boat having issues so we decide to help We get him about a 300 yards from the ramp so I decide that it would be best to untie and take him up to the dock just in my boat when one of my wife's friends tell us that she has about 2.5 3 inches of water around her feet ok problem.... So I open all that hatches and see water up to the bottom of my engine risers Holy crap so I tell the guy that he is on his own and if I get my boat out I would try and get someone to help him. So we ramp rod our way to the ramp. Just budging our way. We get it to the ramp and out. yeah. So we get it to the parking ramp and find the drain plug had worked it's way out??? WTF, this has never happed but it scared the hell out of me. But my Tige did great.
    NOW-
I checked the oil it looks great but I am going to replace it any way. The whole tranny was under water and so was the fuel filter so I will also change it. What else should I do or should this be done by the shop????

Sorry for the long post, but thanks for any help. Now I am drinking beer

Next time don't let your wife put the plug in.......JK ........change the oil and run it on the trailer and check the temp gauge........I had water that high once......no problems due to it, it does not sound like you had it under water very long.

Trans fluid and V-drive fluid should be all you need to change due to depth of water in the bilge. Oh, yeah, check your bilge pump, should have noticed it pucking long before water was ankle deep.

Glad that it was no worse then a missing plug.

Transmission and V-drive fluid should be ok. If water was able to get in would the fluid not be able to get out?

True, but I thought they had vents? Thinking it may have gotten high enough to come in the vent hose.

Glad to hear that your boat is okay. Next time you might want to tighten that plug a 1/8th of a turn more.

I would pull the starter and clean lube the snout if water got in the bell housing, and probably did it will shortly there after rust the shaft and gear and seize up .

My bilge is only a on/off no auto bilge. So I will be putting in a new bilge also.

                            Float switch is a necessity.

Can you just put a float switch in or is it best to replace with a whole new bilge pump?
