    Perfect Pass & Taps problem

    Has anyone had this issue?
When I have my Perfect Pass on and I hit the Taps sometimes it will accelarate like the perfect pass turned off? I can reset it by backing off the throttle. It does not do it all the time. When I adjust the taps as it accelarates before the PP kicks in it is fine.

Sounds like a poor connection for sure. When they both run and draw current the voltage drops to low and PP shuts off.

Thanks mneal. Tonight I'm going to crawl around and check all the connections.

Do you have a volt meter? You could ground it to the battery directly and start checking that way. Poor electrical connections are sometimes a real PITA to find/troubleshoot.

Sounds like the TAPS has a bad ground and is back-feeding through the PP causing it to freak out.

Funny how most electrical issues usually come back to a bad ground, kinda like when you lose a ground strap on a vehicle frame somewhere.

Here is a good example of what a loose ground can do.........I detailed the SUV this week so I pulled the carpet out for a shampoo and pressure wash. Under the center console is the main ground buss for most of the interior. With this loose, it causes the IP cluster to stay lit up. Common sense says that with no ground, stuff should not work, but current had a way of finding a ground, often time through another component, causing one or both to not operate correctly.

Goes back to REAL current theory. It was believed for a long time that current ran from positive to negative. It was later found that it acctually runs negative to positive.

Checked all connections made sure every thing was tight and clean. So far so good. The problem stopped.
