No ATF?

On a routine check of fluids, the dipstick on the atf registered nothing but a faint presence on the tip. Does the boat have to be near perfectly level to check this fluid? Is there harm in overfilling as with engine oil? What is the recommended trans fluid to use on an 04 2i with the 335HP merc?

You want to check the fluid when it is hot not cold.
