    Black film on boat

I have a 2001 20I with a 350 mpi mercruser motor. Runs great but every time I go to clean it up I notice a black film around the exhaust pipes. This is not a big deal but what is causing this? Bad gas? Injectors clogged or ? It doesn't smoke at all when it is running. Should I be concerned with this or is it common with fuel injected motors? Any info would be helpful....

Pretty much normal, the soot is a combo of low engine temps (compared to autos) and lack of catalytic converters to finish the combustion process.
