Is the range of neutral lockout on the thottle adjustable? I have noticed that just being in neutral isn't quite enough to be able to start my engine. I have to have the thottle be almost into reverse to start the engine.
David
the neutral saftey switch is adjustible. the adj. is made at the transmission shift arm. disconnect the cable from the arm, make sure both are in nuetral and adj. the cable end as needed.

Did the adjustment yesterday as you described. Seemed to be piece of cake. Can't tell for sure until I get the boat back in the water so I can start it but from just bumping the starter, it seems to be much improved from two complete turns. So where is the actual switch? In the transmission??
David
it is not in the transmission. it is mounted to the transmission. if you have a merc velvet drive the switch is mounted directly across from the shift arm. it has two yellow/ black wires going to it.
if you have a marine power zf trans it is mounted on top next to the shift arm.
