    fuel gauge

I too am having the same problem with my fuel guage that other owner's report, i.e., when it shows 3/4 tank, I am almost at empty. I took it to the dealer last year for repair, only to be told that it was working fine. Has a solution for this problem been found?

I have been wrenching on Tiges for almost 10 years and for 8 of those I have been asking the factory the same question as you. What is the fix?

Your fuel gauge does work fine, test it yourself. When the boat is on the trailer level it as close as possible. check the gauge. Now, lift the front as hight as you can, check the gauge. Now, lower the bow as low as it will go, check the gauge. If thier was anything less than Full when level I will bet the gauge read Full when the bow was up and dead empty when the bow was down. Now look at the attitude of the boat while it is in the water, bow up huh? gauge will read full until there is approx. 3 gallons left to get you home.

Whats the fix? Any suggestion would help greatly

        Greg,
I read somewhere that someone thought the Faria guages have a fuel flow function built in, that if you purchase the sensor and connect it, the guage automatically recognizes the sensor and enables the menu to access the information.

Have you heard anything on this?

BTW, the fuel flow meter I installed earlier this summer is working like a champ!

The faria guage we are talking about is the Commander series. As far as I know it does have the capabilty to monitor fuel usage but I think there is a little more to the story than just " plug and play". Let me make some calls and I will let you all know what I find out.

          Tip,
We at Tige watersports sold close to 200 Tiges this year. Our service department has been servicing no less than 6 boats a day since April not to mention the 20 or so major bottom strikes (underwater gear and glass repair) So, yes, we have been busy.

            O.K.
I just talked to harvey and there is a transdeucer and harness that can be plugged into your excisting gauge. harvey is going to get back with me later with more info on this.

Faria does offer a fuel flow transducer that will work with the gauge. Part number SN0019. Tige is in the process of testing the unit and it may become an option for later models.

This is the best description of the problem I've yet to read. It decribes my problem exactly. I don't think there is a fix for it. I've just learned to deal with it.

no battery in there. probably a bad gauge. check the plugs on the back of the gauge.

Recently purchased 2001 21v Limited. What's the battery replacement tktige' was talking about? Any other known issues I should know about or a place to go to find known issues?

                      Thanks!

The needle in my guage reall bounces around when we are moving, is that normal, or do I have a loose connection??? Also I have the Faria guage.

thats an old boat you have there, has the needle always bounced or did it just start? if it just started then yea, i would look for a loose connection, either at the sender or at the gauge. alot of times the ground on the sender will erode away over time. it gets pretty wet on your model boat.

                            Help

I am having major issues with fuel gauges. My stock gauge is not working at all. It has been replaced four times. I now have a fuel flow meter that the dealer installed that dosen't work either. Does anybody make a fuel flow meter that will work with the PCM motor on a 2005 24V. I need help from you guys, my dealer is incompitent. The mechanic says he new the new fuel flow meter they installed wouldn't work, He went ahead and drilled a hole in my dash and installed it anyway because the service manager said it would make me happy. I'm not. I really am not trying to be that hard to deal with, just get me something that will get me with in 10 percent of how much gas is in my boat. I can stop and sit to read the gauge I'm fine with that. Just something close.
My dad always said "Stupid Hurts". He's yet to be proven wrong, but for some reason I keep trying.

                              Wingnut:

I don't think you're going to get a working fuel gauge. We can all whine about our fuel gauges on our late model Tige's all we want but that's not going to solve our problem. We all seem to have the same issue. Tige knows about and I would bet they are as frustrated with it as we are.

I purchased through my dealer a Fariah fuel flow meter. Last week was the real test while on vacation at Table Rock. At first the unit was off by close to 5 gallons (It said I needed 33 gallons to fill the tank when it only took 28). But after calibrating the unit as specified in the manual, it's much closer - like within a gallon on 35 gallons used.

What unit did you purchase? and why did your mechanic said it wouldn't work? I've heard of other owners here with the Navman and other brands and they seem to be pretty happy with them.
