    Newbie help 2004 22i lmtd

I am the proud new owner of a 2004 22i w/335hp vortec w/155hrs. I have owned lots of boats but never an inboard so I have a few questions, It is currently 22 degrees outside with two feet of snow on the ground and the previous owner said the boat had been winterized. Upon inspection I find three or four block plugs, hose clamps, plastic plugs and a gold triangular plate with o ring gasket in a cup holder. Three hoses appear to disconnected. It also has TAPS and the plastic bladders appear to be completely empty. As it thaws in my garage a rear floor hatch behind the motor cover is frozen shut and I have no idea what it is, hopefully not Jimmy Hoffa. Any help on de-winterizing to check things out and then rewinterizing would be appreciated. Is this the time to put new vitals in as well?. Does a water supply need to be connected in order to start it? Thanks Hubdawg

Congrats on the new boat and welcome to the Tige family.

Sounds like the boat is atleast drained and safe from a frozen block. You will need to connect to a Fake-a-lake or such to supply water to engine before starting.

You will need to figure out where the plugs go, not sure if that engine has 4 or six. You will probably have atleast one in each exhaust manifold, and probably one in each side of the block. Hopefully the hoses will fall back into place. The plate with Oring may be from the raw water pump.

The hatch in the floor behind the engine box is probably the false floor over the fuel tank. It is probably secured with a couple of screws hidden by the carpet. Hopefully you will not need to pull it up.

      Welcome, H-dawg.

If you're still wondering about the hatch behind your motor cover, that's where us direct-drive types go to access our rudder and steering linkages. Also access for perect pass transducer. My hatch cover has a tab of nylon webbing to pull it up and out - there are no screws to be removed on the '05 model.

I've been spending some time in that area of my boat the past few days, as it is the perfect spot to put my ballast manifold (my winter project). That whole section is pretty wide open. Your fuel tank isn't under there, it is located underneath your back seats (between the floor and the bottom of the seats).

      Where are you located?

Mine is the same way, no screws on an '04.
I'm on a boat man. I got my flippy floppies....
