Upon installation of the PSS, removal of the old coupler revealed either no slot key, or that I somehow caused it to evaporate into thin air.
Is the slot key on the tapered shaft a requirement on a normal rotation engine? The only time the shaft could possibly back out would be in reverse, otherwise it is always tightening.
There is a nut on the back of the coupler with a set screw to ensure it doesn't back off.
BTW my little short boat made the install quite a bit more difficult than if I had one of you guys' monsters.
