    Raw Water Impeller Replacement

I have a 2004 Switch V with the marine power 5.7 on it (340 hp)
What is the best way to change out the impeller on the raw water pump?
Also how often do you change out the Spark Plugs?
( mine came with AC Delco plugs that are rated at 100,000 miles and run $12.00 each.)
    Thanks
    For any info

I just replaced plugs, because the ones I had were fuel fouled. Plugs aren't a high replacement item, but should be inspected as part of a tune up, or if you notice diminished performace, or an obvious miss, burning oil, etc. Plugs last a long time unless you have other issues causing them to foul.

Impellers are a once every season deal, although I don't know anything about your V. I think yours is aft, and you have to really reach in to swap. On an I, it's a 30 second job.

My MarinePower manual states "Check condition of sparkplugs (replace if necessary) every 100 hrs, atleast once each yr." not much help there.

Me, I will think about changing the plugs at the 5 yr mark along with a set of wires, dist. cap and rotor.

Somebody posted in another thread that they felt it was easier on the V drives to pull the impeller housing and change the rubber on the bench.

      Found it http://www.tigeowners.com/forum/show...peller+housing

I think that was on a mercruiser that they pulled the entire unit off to work on the bench.

Very well could be. I know that is how I will approach changing mine next yr, as the dealer replaced the housing this year under warrenty
