    Tune up question

I was considering replacing spark plugs and plug wires with new stuff and doing a little pre summer tune up. Has anyone tried the Bosch Platnuim +4 in there tige? How about 8.8mm Accell wires? What else should I do?

I just changed the plugs and wires on my black scorpion. I used Bosch 8mm wires and Bosch Platinum(+1) plugs. Purs like a kitten.

      Spark Plug Socket

Is there any special spark plug socket you need to change the plugs out. I have the standard 350 in my 1998 PRE 2200i, but I am having a problem getting the socket over the plug. It hits the exhause manifold. Any help would be appreciated.

      Thanks.

I just used a standard wrench for mine...I needed a special one for my last boat though. It is one that has a knuckle in it for tight spots. You can get them at most auto parts stores.

Use knuckles on the wrench or get a socket with knuckles.

Sometimes it is difficult to reach plugs. I have been in places where you could not move the wrench and required an air wrench to get the plugs out. You also had to use an extension and insert the plug socket, then the extension, then the wrench. That is unless you wanted to remove the engine first.

And there was a version of a 197? mustang that required that you cut a hole in the floor to get to the rear plug. Sometimes it ain't easy.

Also watch the foam insert in the socket. Don't let that puppy stay on the plug. Use some dielectric grease on the plug before you insert the plug into the socket. Then use dielectric grease on the plug boot. It will go on easier, stay more water resitant, and come off easier when it is time to change plugs again.
