2007 24VE will not come out of idle after shifting

After a couple hours of wake surfing the engine would not come out idle when trying to throttle up. Could turn off ignition and restart boat and would work one time.

Seems I had this same problem several years ago.

Anyone have any thoughts?

So it shift into gear, throttle lever mechanically goes forward but engine does not rev up? No alarms? Sounds like its going into limp mode.

Yes shifts into gear fwd or reverse engine does not rev at all.No alarms at all.
Starter Battery is reading 12.6V
