There are a number of ways but I unlatch the raw water intake from the fitting in the hull, then, with a reducer I made from PVC, I hook a water hose to the raw water intake hose, I then hook the hose to a 5 gal container of anti-freeze. I hold the 5 gal container up on the back sundeck then start the engine. The engine pulls in the anti-freeze. I let it run until the pink anti-freeze starts coming out the exhaust.
You can also just pull the drain plugs and drain the water from the risers and the hoses if your engine has the removable blue plugs. I've been told the anti-freeze also minimizes corrosion so I prefer using the anti-freeze.
If you do unhook your raw water hose make sure you put it back on properly or you will be in for an unintended swim in the spring.-Tip

On my last boat, an I/O, I used rv/marine antifreeze. I took 2 hours to pull the plugs v's 15 min to flush in a couple gals on A/F. I'll probably just drain my Ve, as we may ride any day that it is nice out.
Like Tip said A/F does prevent corrosion. I dont think you can go wrong either way!Mikes Liquid Audio: Knowledge Experience Customer Service you can trust-KICKER WetSounds ACME props FlyHigh Custom Ballast Clarion LiquidLumens LEDs Roswell Wave Deflector And More

thanks for the replys....so would i have a 50/50 mix of antifreeze and water....also would it be better to use automotive antifreeze or the cheaper plumbers antifreeze....as far as i know the auto stuff has additives that prevent corosion.

They make a Marine/RV Antifreeze , probably like your plumbers antifreeze, that is non-toxic and can be left in till you put the boat in the water next spring.
I used it straight and let it mix with the water already in the engine.Mikes Liquid Audio: Knowledge Experience Customer Service you can trust-KICKER WetSounds ACME props FlyHigh Custom Ballast Clarion LiquidLumens LEDs Roswell Wave Deflector And More

i would never let it go in the lake....in the past when someone else did it, i always started it over the gravel at our house to get all the coolant out... also is this a good time to change the water filter as well?.... what else is good to do besides an oil change?
