    walk through windshield

The walk through windshield has popped to the inside of the windsheild and the overlapping strip that is supposed to keep it in place is now preventing it from popping back to the correct position. It seems that the only way to fix it is to remove the walkthrough windshield hing piece, however we can't get the hing off. Is it a hing pin that slides through? How does it work?

Also, what is the purpose of those adjustment support brackets? This is on a 1998 Pre2200iWT

The adjustment brackets are just that. They adjust the windshield on the inside to keep it taught. If they were not there, the windsheld would be loose. The adjustments allow it to be tailored to the application.

As far as the hinges, I have no idea. I have not had to remove mine. This is another prime example of the need of factory manuals available for purchase.

Is the left side of the glass inside the right side? And now you need to get it back?

This would happen on my 97 2150 (basically the same boat). It would only happen when we would hit the chop.

Extend your support braces all the way up. They are used to adjust the attitude of the windshield and make adjustments for aligning the two halves. I just had to pull real hard to separate the two halves as far as I could. I think I had a helper use a screwdriver to separate the very bottom.

After this happened a few times, I realized the flange of the window didn't overlap the other side very much. I asked my dealer service department and they said they would have to remount the windshield. I guess the two sides of the boat become farther apart over time? I measured the distance to be about a half an inch separation at the time. I went to a metal supply place and bought a half inch thick piece of aluminum. Painted it flat black to match, pop riveted into the right side edge and it looks and works good.

No more problems, even in the biggest of chop.

I also have a 97 2150i. I had the same problem. I removed both sides of the windshield and reinstalled. I had some fiberglass work done on the boat when I upgraded my tower so it was a good time to take it off.

I talked to Andrew about this problem, he said there is a filler strip that should slide out but it would not move. I was able to get it popped back by pressing at the side sections and prying the bottom with a pry bar. I was woundering how Skyski tige was able to get the windshield to move back? is there play in the mounting holes?

the filler strip(extender) will sometimes have to be hit with some sort of chisel and hammer to get it to move. Once you can get it to slide, you slide it off and then pull the windshield out and then put the stuff back in place. After doing this over 100 times, I finally got tired of it and just redid the windshield. You really only have to take off one side of the windshield to get a tighter fit.

Another way to get it out... Get someone to sit on the floor with their feet up against the windshield on the side that is stuck. Go hit a couple of rollers, when it flexes have them put pressure on it and it will go back out the same way it went in.
