No the speed control is not on, the boat is a 2008 24v with the indmar 6.0. The problem will go away if I disconnect and then reconnect the batteries. Boat will rev up past 3000 rpm for a short distance but then cut back again. Thanks for asking

Most likely going into a protection mode. Need to get it scanned for codes. The fact that it changes after a battery disconnect would indicate that the computer is limiting the RPM due to a fault code that clears with the disconnect, so it revs normal again until it senses the fault again.

You must mean it has a marine power not Indmar?

yes my mistake it is a marine power. Update, I had a marine mechanic scan for codes etc. It had a misfire on #8 cylinder. Replaced the spark plugs and it fixed the problem.
The mechanic said that it shouldn't have fixed the problem. Ran the boat for several hours and cant make it fail. Confused but glad its running great.

Your mechanics statement would have me looking for a new one... Mechanic that is..
