08 RZ2 new/ rebuilt v drive from marine power

OK - tranny issue worse than thought. Dealer says needs to stick with a Marine Power V-Drive and only thing available is brand new all out the door price will be around $7,000... gulp
Local Marina says he has a rebuilt V-Dirve that fits the specs and out the door price will be about $3500.
How important is it to stick with the Marine Power V-Drive?
Any help, options, advice will be greatly appreciated.
