2001 21V 350 MPI Starting issue/running rough

Have an issue where the boat will run great for a half hour to an hour. Then will start missing and run rough and eventually die and not restart. Already replaced cap and rotar, ignition sensor inside distributor. Coil was extremely hot and when turning over could see spark coming off the positive side of coil. Bad coil? Going to replace the coil but would appreciate any other suggestions or advice on this problem.

Did you check you fuel filter? Possibly crap in the fuel tank.

Changed fuel filter before this happened. Gas good.

Have you checked for fuel pressure when it dies and won't restart

Coil is correct, no spark should be visible from anything but the ignition tower. The internal windings are protected by an oil bath and when/if the oil leaks out or otherwise disappears, the coil overheats and shorts internally as the windings expand. Swap it and you'll be fine.

I replaced the coil and it fired right up. Have not had the opportunity to water test it to see if problem is still there after it warms up.
