I recently purchased a 1997 PRE2100WT and would like to increase the performance a bit. It has a 13-3 prop that delivers a decent hole shot, but the boat tops out at around 35 to 38 MPH.
The only thing you can do is play with the taps plate. You should get into the low 40's with the plate up.
If you have the 350mag or the 350mpi then the boat should move approx. 1mph for every 100rpm ie. 3500rpm=35mph, 4400rpm=44mph.
If the engine is turning 4400-4600rpm at WOT and you are only going 38mph then check your speedo calibration. 3 ways for this, 1 is put 12.5psi air pressure into the speedo pick up tubes, this will equal 30mph. 2 is drive the boat at 3000rpm and set speedo to 30mph. This method is not exact but it will get you close. 3 gps it and set the speedo.
Other than that it is what it is. It's called "hull speed". You can try to over come it but it will be expensive and possibly dangerous.

Would the same be true for a 2000 22i, 350mag, 1:1 velvet drive, 13x13 4 blade OJ @ 4000ft. elevation? I need to recalibrate and don't have GPS nor do I know anybody with one. I know there is way to calibrate it using fixed points and a stop watch but sheesh, what a pain.
I have a 97 Pre2000wt that had the same prop on it, I switched to a OJ legend 4 blade 13 x 13. it really helped the hole shot and made the wake allot softer for slalom skiing.
