    Neurtral Safety Switch

Guys, I am sure I have a Neutral switch going out, or pretty sure anyway. Turn the key to start and nothing at times and it's getting worse. All I have to do is jiggle the shifter in and out of gear with the key in the start position and it kicks the starter and we're good. I do notice it usually happens when your last shift is reverse. Anyway, I revmoved the switch and tested with a cont meter and it seems to be fine so my question is do I just try to replace the $30 switch or get the $100 kit that also replaces cam and gaskets? I thought about "borrowing" my friends switch and seeing if just the switch helps? Any experience with the fix?

The only other thing I could think of is a new shift cable. It does have a little slack in it when I remove it from the lever. Not sure if this has something to do with it.

Get a new switch but in the meantime you can wire both leads to only one side of the switch. Just be aware that it will then be able to start in gear when you do that.
Fixing everyone elses boat just so I can use mine...

I did a little more investigation yesterday because I just didn't think the switch was bad after testing it. I checked my shifter cable adjustment and it was every so slightly off that the ball hitch on the shifter lever at the tranny wasn't quite seating like I thought it should on the neutral position so I turned the cable end adjustment so it was perfect in neutral. Went out yesterday and couldn't get it to repeat the problem after around 20 starts/stops. Hopefully this fixed it! I also researched if you could adjust the shifter lever push/pull points any and it doesn't look like you can. It's just a 30deg push and pull each way. All you can adjust is the ends of the cable.
