    Serial number on PCM 409

    Hi Evryone
Just got this forum figured out. I just bought a 2011 RZ2 and we are thrilled with the boat. I am trying to get the insurance sorted out and cant seem to find the serial number on the engine. I have never had a problem before but it seems to elude me on this one. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

    Cheers

I think that is only needed for outboard motors, where it can be removed from the boat. Obviously you don't have a removable motor. At least that is how it is when registering a boat here in Tx - I don't know about where you live.

There should be a plate right on top of the motor towards the front. I can't remember if it's under the plastic cover plate or not though.

Should be on the valve cover and is very hard to see.

Thanks guys. I will look again. I did find a number on the block but it looks more like a casting number. There is a serial number that is labeled on the ECM and wondered if the factory put that on to make it easier to find the serial number. I will double check though.

          Thanks

X2. Who is the insurance? I wasn't asked either, since it is an inboard.

ALL of you should look at your insurance and MAKE SURE your motors are part of the coverage!!!! We do about a dozen engine replacements a year under insurance and about half that that are not covered because the owners were insured by AAA or Progressive. Marine insurance providers WILL replace an engine under insurance, just make sure you're covered. Sorry for the hijack

Good advice. When I bought my first boat MetLife (my then and now insurance company) asked for the hull number AND the engine number, and listed both on the policy. I haven't checked if that's true on the 24Ve, but after this thread I'm going to make sure. Thanks for the heads up!
