    Motor misses a beat

We have a 2005 315 HP MPI Mercruiser motor in our Tige. Ever since we first bought the boat new, the motor has occasionally missed a beat when excelerating from idle. This doesn't happen every time, but in an outing would occur about 7-8 times in a 2 hour session. The boat has been for a 20 hour and 100 hour service and at both services we've told the mechanic about the problem and asked them to investigate. When we've gone to pick the boat up the servicing people have avoided the topic and tried to tell us this is normal and it goes away with time. We've now done 130 hours and the problem has got worse since the 100 hour service. Has anyone experienced a similar problem?

is the engine knocking? or making any noises? the first thing that came to my mind is a clogged fuel line, or fuel filter. really wierd for the engine to skip a beat here and then. you would think that if there was something wrong with the engine, it would happen every second.

No knocking noise, just kind of hesitates, loses power very temporarily. We can't find any pattern to when it occurs and has always done it from day one (from brand new).

        eztige,
Your boat should not be doing this and as you describe its not going away. Have they changed anything out? Filters, pumps etc? Avoiding a problem as you suggest is not good. Another area that you or they may look into is to see if your fuel line is kinked or maybe a faulty fuel pump.
