This past weekend we launched the boat with wife as operator. Third outing this season. Seconds after separation from trailer she radio's me stating that loud noise emitting from engine cover possibly fan belt screaching. She lifts hood and observes smoke. Wife immediately shuts down engine. I swim out and after interviewing those on board initiate my diagnostics at the engine circulating water pump. I man handle serp belt and discover water circ pump pully is catching. Upon further investigation I can see a water stain downward from weep hole.

I dispatch for WD-40 and liberally shoot punp and weep hole. RE-attach serp belt and initiate engine start up. No belt screams and monitor engine temp. Boat runs well all three days.

Order a "Sierra Water Pump" from Carquest for less $100 and intend to R&R Monday afternoon.

    Hopefully without further incident.....

I bought a new Edelbrock Water Circ. Pump and it didn't fit. Everything was the same as the old one except it was too fat around the hose connection area. There are two bolts on the timing cover that are not recessed like the others. Of course one of those is in the way of the new water pump. I will have to replace it with a stock replacement. My old one is still working for now.

teachercop - Thanks for the cost on the Sierra from Carquest.
