    V-drive red light

Since I have had the boat (just a year), the center red dash light (v-drive oil pressure light) almost all of the time works fine. Comes on when at idle and just above but once in a blue moon I noticed it stays on UNTIL I put the boat in reverse for a second and then back to forward. Then it goes back to being "happy".

My buds 22V does this too. I have checked the fluid level many times before and after last years fluid change. All is good. 30w right to the top of the stick. So why? Any ideas.

I have to guess that at times, there's some oil getting stuck in a cavity somewhere and putting it in reverse throws it back into circulation somehow? I'm thinking it's not something I need to worry about.

Anyone else have this happen? I did a search and it seems some people do but there's never been a response except that it shouldn't happen and to have it checked. Well, I am sure if I had it checked, all they would do is what I did and check the oil level and call it good.

Mine does the same thing, I read somewhere that it is perfect normal. Something about the oil pressure being low at idle. Don't quote me on that though. But its normal so just run it.

Yep, if tranny oil pressure is low the light is illuminated. At idle there is not enough oil pressure to switch the light off. But when under power (I believe above 1700 rpm) keep an eye on the light. If it is illuminated you have oil pressure issues in the tranny.

Thanks for the reply but how the light works, what I don't get is why it stays on periodically at higher rpm (which I didn't make clear) and to get it to go off, I have to put it in reverse for a second.

        Thanks.
