    Fuel Problems

For some reason I have had this problem a couple of times...

When I am filling the boat up while on the water it will not let me put much fuel in, it will just continually spill out over the side. The guy at the dock says it is because it is so hot, however, when I have the boat out of the water on the trailer it fills up fine at a normal gas station. Do I have a venting issue or something?

Also, since my fuel gauge does not work I pulled out the float assembly (it was kind of a lever type) and I confirmed that the sender was working by manually pushing the float up and down and checking the gauge. I am considering replacing it with a WEMA fuel level sensor:

    thoughts about this?

Also, I have a 2002 Tige 2300V and if I want to order this new sensor I need the know the depth of the tank, does anyone know what depth I should use for this? Just off memory and eyeballing it, I would guess 6 - 10".

    Thanks!

Wema senders are awesome, go with that but I don't know the tank depth. As for filling up, the boat sits in the water different than on the trailer so try holding the nozzle upside down while filling and have everyone sit on the opposite side of the boat to help it go down.
Fixing everyone elses boat just so I can use mine...

Here is how the measurement reads:

Length Measurement: Sending Unit length should be a minimum of one (1) inch less than the plastic tank depth, and three quarters (0.75) of an inch less than the metal tank depth. Note: If metal tank surface flexes, deduct one (1) inch from the depth. (like plastic tank)

Our boat is 30 min away and I do not think I will have the opportunity to go measure between now and next weekend, so hopefully someone has an idea of the depth of the tank.

This is the key, either have nobody on the boat when refilling on the water or have people sit on the opposite side, preferably upfront.
