Faint shriek sound at low speed

2004 22V. When I'm moving at certain low rpm I can hear a very faint shreaking or high pitched whine sound that sounds like it's coming from underneath the boat. It's very faint. If I throttle up or down it goes away. Is this normal?

One other thing: Last night I was coming in slow to dock, and when I put it in neutral the boat stayed in gear. I had to put it in reverse and then neutral worked.

I just bought the boat, so any sound I hear I get really paranoid.

Noise sounds like prop sing, get a file and sharpen the front then square the back of each blade. I had ACME repair a prop and it "sang" when I got it back. As for your shifter, sounds like a cable adjustment is needed.
"I refuse to answer that question on the grounds that I don't know the answer."
