Taps starting to give a problem

2000 20CI. Yesterday PM. I wanted to change the Taps setting. The switch only moved the Taps up, not down. When ever I change the setting the volt meter drops while I am pushing the switch. What do I check first? Please reply. I want to use my boat next weekend

I would thing to jumper the switch to see if is the problem. If not, track to the back and check fluid level in the pump. Only other thing on the CI is the pump unit itself.
So this monkey walks into a bar...

Check the fluid level in the tank under the pump. This is in the back locker on the drivers side on a RZ2. I had this same problem last year after the fluid "burped" some air that was in the line and the level dropped. Also check that the hose to the taps isn't leaking (or the connection to the fluid tank).

X2 on checking the fluid. I also had this issue when my pump fell over and the fluid drained out.

Yup its the lack of ATF in the Tige pump that is causing the problem. Just unscrew the cover and there is a inlet at the bottom right hand side of the TAPS. Just pull out the plug and fill it up with a turkey baster. Let me know if you need any pictures on how to do this. Happy to post up the pictures if you would like

i had the same thing happen last week I had 2 problems mine was the cranking battery had lost a cell and would only hold 8v. Also my altinator was bad. Try putting the boat in nutral and increse the rpm to 2000 and see if it goes up. My problem was on a 2005 22v

I dont think that that boat had a fluid pump I am pretty forsure it was a lynco eletric plus with the volt gauge droping means you have a draw on the eletrical and the altinator cant keep up one becouse of a bad battery or 2 becouse of a bad altinator.

Thanks for all the info. I will take my meter and check things out this weekend. I have never had to remove the rear upholstery before, so this will be a learning curve. I hope it is just a bad switch. M&M

I really lucked out. I followed the switch wire to a connector and the wire was undone from the connector. I replaced the connector works fine. I went salom skiing yesterday. What a great hot Missouri summer day. Thanks for your help. M&M

How do you follow the switch wire? Did you remove throttle handle or remove side panel?

Wire under the dash coming from the the throttle cable vicinity. It came loose from a electrical device behind dash board. Connected it and it worked. M&M
